Overcome The Dreaded Homework Struggle
Study without desire spoils the memory, and retains nothing that it takes in.
-Leonardo da Vinci
Are you looking forward to the new year of homework struggles? You understand their frustration and dissatisfaction with having to do homework after spending 7-8 hours at school already. This seems to be especially difficult for middle school homework. We know that children would prefer to be doing just about anything else.
Let’s dive into the topic of that we know all too well – the ever-dreaded homework. We’ve been there ourselves, albeit many years ago. We’ve all seen it and lived it—the weary eyes of children, laden with backpacks and textbooks, trudging home after a full day of school, only to face more hours of assignments.
Homework – child looks irritated and unhappy while slugging through their tasks for the next school day. What if it could be a different scenario? What if your child could be thoroughly engaged in a meaningful project of their own choosing that keeps them so busy that even their iphone isn’t a distraction? Do you think this is pure fantasy? I can tell you that it is possible and that many happy children are living their lives this way already?
We’ve all been there, right? The evening battles over math problems, the frantic last-minute research for science projects, and the elusive quest to balance homework with quality family time. It’s a dance we’ve come to know too well, one that often leaves both parents and children feeling drained. But fear not, there’s an alternative that might just change your perspective!
This is where homeschooling comes in. With homeschooling there is no need for stress-inducing rigid schedules nor hours of mindless busywork. Instead you and your family can enjoy flexibility and fun. In your homeschool, learning can be a collaborative endeavor where parents and children decide when and how learning takes place. This means no more tears while rushing through assignments or late-night cramming for a test. Instead, your family’s rhythm becomes the guide.
